Outlook email to PDF

Convert Outlook Email to PDF

Open a conversation in Outlook on the web, choose Export to PDF in the extension, and Chrome downloads a styled document. It works with the conversation currently open in desktop Chrome—not an Outlook desktop app, mailbox, folder, or batch of messages.

Install Extension

For Outlook on the web in desktop Chrome 109 or later.

An open Outlook web conversation becomes a styled PDF in Chrome.

How to save an Outlook email as a PDF

To save an Outlook email as a PDF, open it in Outlook on the web, run Email to PDF, and let desktop Chrome save the file. The extension exports only the conversation in view, not a mailbox or folder.

  1. Open the conversation

In desktop Chrome 109 or later, open the specific Outlook web conversation you want to keep. Expand it if needed so the messages you expect are visible.

  2. Start the export

Open the Email to PDF extension and choose Export to PDF. The extension attempts to expand the conversation, then collects its messages and available details for rendering.

  3. Download the PDF

Wait while the extension creates the document locally. Chrome saves the PDF to your normal download destination, using the conversation subject in the filename when available.

What the generated Outlook PDF includes

The PDF is a readable record of the open conversation. It can retain useful message details, formatting, links, and retrievable inline images, while keeping current output limits clear.

Included in the PDF

  • Messages from the conversation currently open, ordered chronologically.
  • Subject, sender, recipients, Cc when available, and date.
  • Safe body formatting plus valid web and email links.
  • Retrievable inline images displayed in the body.

Current limits

  • Downloadable file attachments are not appended to or converted with the PDF.
  • Remote images the extension cannot retrieve may be omitted.
  • Unusual layouts may not match Outlook pixel for pixel.

Does it work with Microsoft Outlook?

Yes. Email to PDF supports Outlook on the web in desktop Google Chrome. It is not currently positioned for Outlook desktop or mobile apps.

Outlook on the web

Open the conversation at outlook.live.com, outlook.office.com, outlook.office365.com, or outlook.cloud.microsoft. The extension reads the conversation already displayed in the browser; it does not require an uploaded .msg or .eml file.

Desktop Chrome requirement

Email to PDF requires desktop Google Chrome version 109 or later. Support is not established for Edge, Firefox, Safari, mobile browsers, the Outlook desktop application, or the Outlook mobile app.

Extension workflow versus other PDF routes

This Outlook email-to-PDF converter starts from the conversation open in Chrome, unlike browser print controls or a separate upload-based service.

How Outlook email processing works

Email to PDF extracts the conversation open in Outlook on the web and renders the document locally inside the Chrome extension. Captured message content is not sent to an application server. If an email contains images hosted elsewhere, the extension may request those files from their original network locations so it can try to embed them in the PDF.

  • Extraction happens inside the extension.
  • Rendering happens locally in Chrome.
  • Unavailable remote images may be omitted.
